BMP has no transparency: transparent areas of the HEIC are filled with the colour you choose (white by default).
No: BMP stores the image losslessly, so it stays exactly as it was in the HEIC (any loss already in the original cannot be recovered).
Your device’s memory sets the limit: on desktop, images up to about 100 megapixels; on mobile, up to 16.7. If an image is too large you are told before it starts.
