Why convert JPG to PDF?

Many online forms ask for a PDF even when you only have a photo: a scanned ID, a receipt or a proof of payment. Turn it into a PDF with A4 size and margins if you need them.

It has no transparency and loses a little quality each time it is edited and saved again. As a PDF it is easy to send, print or attach to an online form.

About the formats

JPG, the most widespread photo format

JPG (or JPEG) compresses photos lossily: it drops details the eye barely notices so the file is much smaller.

Strengths: Every phone, computer, social network and app can open it, and it is ideal for photographs.

Limits: It has no transparency and loses a little quality each time it is edited and saved again.

PDF, the document that looks the same everywhere

PDF fixes the look of a document (text, images and layout) so it appears the same on any screen or printer.

Strengths: It is the standard for sending, signing, printing and archiving documents.

Limits: Editing its content or reusing its images and text is not straightforward.

Frequently asked questions

Is my JPG uploaded to a server to turn it into PDF?

No. The JPG to PDF conversion runs entirely in your browser, with code downloaded from this site and executed on your device. You can check it in the Network tab of the developer tools or by going offline after the page loads.

Can I choose the PDF page size?

Yes: the JPG can go on a page of its own size or on A4 or US Letter, portrait or landscape, with margins. To combine several images into one PDF use “Images to PDF”.

Is there a size limit?

Your device’s memory sets the limit: on desktop, images up to about 100 megapixels; on mobile, up to 16.7. If an image is too large you are told before it starts.

Can I convert several JPG files at once?

Yes. Drop as many JPG files as you like: several are converted at the same time, depending on your processor cores, and when they finish you can download each PDF or all of them in a ZIP.
